How is Gardien different than most other wine storage facilities?

  • We offer concierge storage, which is a higher level of service than typical wine lockers.  This means that we do all the work to make your wine experience as simple and easy as possible.  We inventory and assess every bottle so you always have an up-to-date inventory.  We do all the heavy lifting too, including receiving shipments as well as pickup and delivery.  You never have to sort through your cases trying to find that special bottle again.

How does Gardien charge for storage services?

  • Gardien invoices clients monthly, based on the number of boxes of wine in storage, so you only pay for what you store; and not for empty locker space.  

How much will it cost to store my wine?

  • Our fees vary based on how much wine you have to store, and your specific needs. The best option is to call/email us so that we can assess your needs and give you a quote!

  • Our longterm storage fees are slightly less than our temporary storage fees, and both depend on how much wine is in storage.

  • Will you need us to pack up and transport your wine, or will you deliver it to us already packed in storage boxes?  

  • Will you want to add to, and withdraw from your collection, thus needing an inventory?

What other services does Gardien offer?

  • We receive shipments on your behalf.  We can hold them for you for pick-up or delivery; or add them to your current inventory.  Stress free for you...no waiting for the delivery truck!

  • We pack up and pick up wine from your home or another location.

  • We deliver your wine to you, at home, work or even a local restaurant.

  • We offer home cellar management services such as restocking, organizing and inventorying.

  • We can coordinate shipping your collection anywhere within the continental U.S.

  • We desire to make your wine life simple and enjoyable!

What services can you provide if I'm moving and have a wine cellar or large wine refrigerator?

  • Gardien will come to your home, box up your collection and transport it to our cellar for safekeeping.  We'll hold it until your are ready for it to be delivered and restocked or shipped to your new location.  Yes, we work with national carriers to transport your wine anywhere in the continental U.S. at temperature.

What if I want a bottle(s) from my collection?

  • You can go online to your digital cellar, sort through your collection and select the bottle(s) you want.  Tell us if you want to pick them up or deliver them to you.  You can also call, email or text us and we'll take care of it.

Do I need to pack my wine in special boxes for storage?

  • You can pack your own wine, or we'll do it for you.  We prefer to use our 12-bottle lay-flat, heavy-duty storage boxes, but you can also use standard upright cases or continue to use any original wooden crates.  We do not allow storage of typical shipping containers (styrofoam or pressed cardboard) due to their size.

Can I store other alcohol with you; say whiskey as an example?

  • Yes, you can store any alcoholic beverage such as spirits, sake, beer or cider.  While most hard liquors contain too much alcohol to benefit from aging, and most beers and ciders are made for immediate consumption, you can certainly store them with us.

What information about my wines does the digital cellar track?

  • When we inventory your wine, we enter as much information as possible directly from the bottle.  This includes: wine name, producer, vintage, wine type, county, regions, vineyard, classification, ABV, grape variety, condition, fill level and more.  For some finer wines, we also track current trading prices (via Wine Searcher), ratings and more.  Photographs are taken and uploaded along with any condition notes, fill level and provenance documentation that you provide (such as purchase price) to track your investment.

What happens if there is a power outage at Gardien?

  • Gardien has a backup generator that kicks on the moment we lose power and it powers the entire facility, keeping your wine safe and at a constant 55 degrees.  In addition, our cellar is extremely well insulated and there's enough thermal mass to hold temperature for over 24 hours without any power.

I already have a wine cellar or a nice wine refrigerator.  Can I still use Gardien?

  • Absolutely.  If you store a minimal amount of wine with us, we'll receive all your club allotments and shipments for free.  You don't ever have to wait at home for the delivery driver to show up again!

  • We can store wines that you aren't going to drink in the near future.  This allows you to buy when prices are their lowest and hold until the wines hit their optimum drinking windows.  You may be holding wine for an occasion many years from now.  By storing with Gardien, you have peace of mind that it will be cared for in optimal conditions/

  • We can periodically restock your home cellar with wines that are ready to drink.

  • You won't have to worry about your best wines spoiling if your wine refrigerator goes out in the middle of summer when you're out of town on vacation or business (yes, it happens, unfortunately).

What's with the name?

  • Similar to the word "Guardian" in English, Gardien is the French word for someone who protects or cares for something important or precious.  They go above and beyond to ensure that the care they provide is the best and is in the best interest of their charge.  We chose to go with the French spelling of guardian as a way to pay homage to the country with the most prominent and well-known wine regions in the world.

I hear you have a beautiful lounge space.  What do you use it for?

  • Thank you for asking!  Our lounge is first and foremost for our clients (members) who store wine with us.  They have access to the space 365 days of the year from 10am to 10pm.  They can invite friends in to share a bottle, work, play games or watch the game on our 85" television.  We have a monthly social hour where we share a bottle and some delicious food!

  • We host a variety of events; education, specialty wine tastings, limoncello making, tequila tastings...you name it!

  • We rent out the space for special events.
